Our Responsible Corporate Governance

About Alternate

Alternate Consulting Kft. is a Hungarian-owned sustainability and ESG consulting micro-enterprise established in 2008. We support our clients in integrating sustainability, business ethics, human rights, environmental and social considerations, and responsible procurement into their strategic decision-making, governance processes, reporting, and day-to-day operations.

Our work combines high professional standards with practical solutions, critical thinking, and stakeholder dialogue. Our services include, among others, ESG and sustainability strategy development, sustainability reporting, double materiality assessments, sustainable procurement, business ethics, human rights and social topics, training, workshop facilitation, and support for corporate self-assessments.

Our Mission and Commitment

Our mission is to contribute to a more sustainable, equitable, and responsible economy through our professional expertise and collaborative partnerships. As a consulting firm, we believe it is essential that our own operations reflect the same principles we recommend to our clients in the areas of sustainability, ESG, ethical business conduct, human rights, equal opportunity, diversity, and responsible procurement.

Although our direct environmental and social impacts are limited due to our size and service-based business model, we consider it our responsibility to continuously assess and improve our own operations. Our approach is guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations Global Compact Principles, the management system framework of relevant ISO standards, and internationally recognised guidance on sustainable corporate governance and responsible business conduct.

Our Corporate Governance Approach

Responsible, transparent, and values-based corporate governance forms the foundation of Alternate’s operations. As a small organisation, we benefit from agile decision-making, direct communication, clearly defined responsibilities, and flexible collaboration. At the same time, we place strong emphasis on documented policies, quality assurance, stakeholder feedback, and continuous self-assessment.

Our responsible corporate governance approach covers, among others, the following areas:

  • Business ethics, integrity, anti-corruption, and conflict of interest prevention;
  • Data protection, information security, and the responsible handling of confidential client information;
  • High-quality service delivery, understanding client needs, and effective management of complaints and feedback;
  • Human and labour rights, fair employment, equal opportunities, diversity, and inclusion;
  • Employee well-being, occupational health and safety, and flexible, family-friendly working arrangements;
  • Environmental responsibility through digital and low-resource operations, as well as responsible travel and procurement decisions;
  • Sustainable procurement, supplier and subcontractor expectations, and social value creation.

Continuous Self-Assessment and Improvement

We regularly review our policies and commitments through strategic and management meetings, as well as feedback received from clients, partners, employees, and other stakeholders. Our continuous improvement approach follows the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) methodology: we identify relevant impacts and risks, define objectives and actions, evaluate performance, and adjust our practices where necessary.

Based on the Opten ESG Assessment, we monitor our ESG performance. We also use the Vállalható Vállalat self-assessment questionnaire as part of our internal due diligence process, and we aim to obtain an EcoVadis sustainability rating.

To promote transparency, we make our key policies and contractual sustainability and ethical requirements publicly available. This enables our partners, clients, and assessment organisations to understand that our responsible business practices are documented, continuously evolving, and fully integrated into our day-to-day consulting activities.

Due to our size and the nature of our business activities, we are not legally required to operate a statutory whistleblowing or non-compliance reporting channel. Nevertheless, we believe that feedback is valuable, mistakes are a natural part of continuous improvement, and learning is an ongoing process. We therefore welcome all constructive comments, feedback, suggestions, and observations made in good faith.
